What is PROSKIN .......
Proskin is the name of BRC's newest product. Proskin Disposable Mechanics Gloves were put together especially for the motorsport industry. Proskin Disposable Mechanics Gloves are a tough disposable glove that can hold up in solvents and other abuses mechanics in our sport put them through.
"Proskin" is our newest and most durable product. The company is BRC, Inc., which stands for Band-It Rubber Company, Inc. BRC is the largest importer of rubber bands in the United States. My father Bernie Spangler started the company back in 1972. He had worked for a competitor for almost 10 years running that company and producing big profits.
Since he had been running the company he knew what to do. I was born in 1967, so I pretty much grew up in the business. In 1995 my father and I came up with an agreement for me to purchase the company from him. Towards the end of the 90's, I expanded the product line to include disposable gloves, latex, vinyl and Nitrile. We offer both exami-nation grade, as well as general purpose gloves .
We are very excited about the Proskin Disposable Mechanical Gloves. The reason that I came up with Proskin was because everyone in our sport has to go to Home Depot or other stores to buy disposable gloves, and 9 times out of 10 they fall apart. Motorcycle dealers do not carry them. They sell air filters, oil and other products, but are missing the boat on disposable gloves. Getting your product into the distributor's catalogis the easy part. A couple of distributors have a disposable glove in their catalogs, but the Dealers do not have any on their shelves. What we are doing is creating demand by having vendor spots at as many of the big races as we can and also marketing directly to the Dealers educating them on the fact that we all use disposable gloves and they need to be putting them on their shelves. Along with marketing at the track directly to the mechanics and marketing to the Dealers we will also have rider support programs.
